In some cases it seems that we are raising a very lazy and unmotivated society of children. Students often seem less interested in applying themselves and pushing themselves to excel and do their best. Children and parents alike are more acceptable in settling for minimum requirements. Controversy Over Possible Closure of Accelerated School

A magnet school in California that serves students who are gifted may be closing. This is controversial for many reasons. Those for the closure point to overcrowding, and feel the school is “elite”. Those against the closure point to the limited opportunity for gifted students in the other schools within the district. Teach Elementary is a magnet school that is run by the San Luis Coastal Unified School District. It has been around for about thirty years. Public School Promoting Homeschooling when it is Convenient?

A recent news story tells of a young lady who is suing the school system. This 16 year old is an honor student and also the mother of a 2-year-old child. The suit says the district has brought complaints nine times against A.C. or her mother, leading to detention, in-school suspension, fines, warrants and suspension of her driver’s license. The lawsuit (also) says school officials also have encouraged a switch to home-schooling or to a vocational high school with a daycare program. So suddenly, homeschooling is a good idea? Leveling in the Classroom

As a parent, we understand that each child is unique and has a lot to offer. Each child is motivated in a different way and not all children learn in the same manner or at the same time.
