Our recent discussion about twins in the classroom has lead me to many different thoughts. My first thought came from my parenting instinct. I questioned why schools would even consider making the decision for parents. My next thought came from the teacher perspective. For the past few days, I have been discussing education and multiples, mainly twins. The main topic with twins is whether to keep them in the same homeroom or separate them into different classes. Most every school, teacher, and parent can give you an opinion on the topic. However, each set of multiples, just like single birth children, should be looked at separately. In my latest series of articles I have been discussing twins in the classroom. It seems that some schools have created policies to keep twins separated into different homerooms. Some states have passed bills to allow parents the choice of having their twins or multiples together or separate. I have also listed some advantages of why it is best for twins to stay together.
