People often ask me why I do so well in school. I've never hated school but I wasn't always particularly fond of it either. Nevertheless I always did well in school. All the way from grade school through my current Ph.D. program.

I can remember as a student myself taking home list of words that I was supposed to be able to read by a specified date. My sister also has these list sent home with her girls. Once a list is mastered, the student moves on to a harder list.

Sixth grade in many schools is considered middle school, which can be very different from elementary school. For the first time students may change classrooms and have different teachers for each subject.
