Charlie’s Officially Out and Arnold Did WHAT?

Well, you may have heard the news by now, but CBS has officially announced that Ashton Kutcher will be Charlie Sheen’s replacement on “Two and a Half Men.” Sheen had maybe jokingly, maybe not pleaded for his job back during his one man train wreck, eh, tour. A friend has said Sheen is “destroyed” that he has been replaced and so quickly. Publically, Sheen has tweeted his best to Ashton and said CBS got the right guy. However, he later tweeted, “Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer … Oh wait, so am I!! Enjoy the show America, … Continue reading

Can You Handle the Truth?

Do you get easily defensive when someone points out something negative in you? I will fully admit that I do. Even if I don’t display it outwardly, inside I bristle. I would think that most of us have a difficult time hearing something we don’t want to hear. Yet the truth is that many times the only way we can grow as a person is to be able to learn how to handle the truth. Recently I was having a conversation with my 16-year-old son. I brought up a concern I had, something I was seeing in him. Immediately he … Continue reading

Seeing and Saying Baby

Normally I write about college life. My college life as a graduate student and as an instructor. Occasionally high school is thrown in there but I rarely talk about anything younger. Today I actually have something to share in that area. If you weren’t aware I am also a (relatively) new parent. My wife and I had our first and I’m the Fatherhood blogger here at Families.com. Our son has provided many great things to write about over the past year (he’s just turned one in fact) but he just recently demonstrated the importance of learning to me and I’d … Continue reading

Jamie Lynn Spears Gives Birth and Britney Updates

Jamie Lynn Spears has given birth to a baby girl named Maddie Briann. Jaime Lynn gave birth this morning in a Mississippi hospital at 9:30 am, with Maddie reportedly weighing in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces. Her family – big sister Britney, dad Jamie, and brother Bryan – flew in yesterday to be with her. Her mother Lynne was already there helping her prepare for the arrival of the baby. Since she had announced her pregnancy last December, Jamie Lynn, the star of the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101, has been lying low in her home state of Louisiana. There is … Continue reading

Star Baby News—-Who’s Welcoming a New Addition in 2008

Last month rumors were swirling that Matt Damon’s former “Good Will Hunting” co-star and ex-girlfriend Minnie Driver was due to give birth to her first baby this summer. While the actress’ camp remains mum about the news, the New York Post has decided to spread the good word claiming the rumor is indeed fact and reports its “spies” recently spotted Driver and a friend outside a Los Angeles-area doctor’s office looking at sonogram pictures. The 37-year-old star of “A Socialite’s Life” is reportedly keeping the identity of the father under wraps, though some tabloids are saying that Driver’s current English … Continue reading

Jerry Buzzes Around Israel and Brad Backs Out of Potential Big Screen Blockbuster

Jerry Seinfeld always knew he would return to the Holy Land… someday, though he says he could have never predicted it would be to promote a movie about an animated bee. Funny how things just work out the way they do. What’s more, the Jewish comic says there is no way he could have fathomed his visit would be front-page news. Local newspapers devoted multiple pages to his trip and references to his humor bled into serious news stories. “Yada, yada, yada,” said TV political analyst Amnon Abramovitz on Sunday after reading a story about the Mideast meeting called by … Continue reading

Brady’s Baby Blues (Oh, Boo Hoo)

Forgive me if I’m the last to jump onboard the Tom Brady Baby Blues Bandwagon. I have a hard time feeling sorry for the NFL star who was reportedly shedding tears of sadness as he left the maternity ward of an L.A. hospital last week. You’ll recall that it was exactly a week ago yesterday that Brady’s ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan gave birth to their son John Edward Thomas Moynahan. Shortly after the baby’s arrival reps for both parents sent out cheery statements to the media saying that Bridget was “very pleased” that Tom was able to skip practice in Massachusetts … Continue reading

The actor graduated from the private liberal arts school located in central Ohio in 1949 with a degree in drama and economics and now wants to help others further their education there. “My days there were among the happiest and most formative of my life,” Newman said last week. “I believe … Continue reading

Hollywood Mom-To-Be and Her Mysterious Suitor

Whoa! This one came out of left field. In one fell swoop actress Salma Hayek announced she was getting married and having a baby (though the order of the events is still in question). According to news sources, the award-winning Hollywood A-lister is engaged to businessman boyfriend François-Henri Pinault – and she’s pregnant with his child. Francois-Henri who? I’ve followed Hayek’s love life close enough to know that she was no longer seeing actor Edward Norton (they dated for four years until 2003) and I know she split with Josh Lucas in 2004, but pledging to spend the rest of … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Handling Unwanted Belly Comments

I am very lucky to be with a man that finds the pregnant body sexy and beautiful. And he’s not the only one: Men in most cultures find fertility very attractive, leading the women to flaunt it in its many forms, especially pregnancy. Coming home to this kind of acceptance had a profound impact on my self-image during what was a very large pregnancy for me. This was especially true with all the unwanted, sometimes rude comments I received due to my large belly. I found respite in talking to my fiancé about how upset they made me. I’m not … Continue reading
