Getting Teens to Dress Conservatively for School

I realize that this subject is interpretable and perhaps a bit controversial, but the way teens dress for school really does affect their education. Take for instance, the Cobb County GA Teen who liked to wear women’s clothes to school and the disruption that three days in skinny jeans caused. While most teens don’t go nearly this far to express their personal style, they do love to push boundaries, and they often push them too far. Just five years ago, low rise jeans for girls were pushed to the extreme. It was common for girls to wear these jeans to … Continue reading

Student Calls School Director

The job of a school director or even of a school principal is definitely no walk in the park. These individuals deal with a huge variety of families, parents, and issues daily. They are rarely sought out unless a problem exists. Therefore, listening to and solving conflict is typically the story of their lives. Besides hearing complaints, the director of schools also has to make many tough decisions. One such decision deals with the closing of schools due to inclement weather. Schools in my county have closed for ice, snow, flooding, and storms. We have closed early, closed completely, and … Continue reading

It Always Seems to Revolve Around Funding

Public schools receive a certain amount of state funding for every student that is enrolled and that is part of a Special Education program. My article also began giving parents some tips on how to more positively call teachers or school faculty members. My first tip was to check and make sure that the … Continue reading

Calling a Teacher at Home

In an article written earlier, I recapped a news story about a student who called the school director’s house to question why school did not close for snow. The less than happy wife of the director returned the call and angrily commented that the boy should not have called their house. My husband and I are both in the education field. We do receive calls from parents at our house. Because we are both in elementary education, we rarely receive calls from students. I can understand the wife’s frustrations with people calling the house about work issues. I am sure … Continue reading
