Disney loves to encourage devotion or obsession among its fans. That makes it mind-boggling, then, that last week a girl was kicked out of Disney World for wearing a Tinker Bell costume. I’m no tech junkie. I don’t own a smartphone. I don’t allow my kid to play video games. I am anti-Facebook and I don’t text. When watching the Marvel film “Iron Man 2,” I was struck by something interesting. A special gel that was designed to help a disabled dolphin has been repurposed in order to help a girl who has lost one of her legs. The dolphin is featured in a movie that will be released in theaters soon, and the girl is living in California with her adopted family. Gamestop has done something that frugal people who appreciate the value of a good coupon will consider to be downright vile. As an educator there is nothing more important to me than transmitting knowledge. The name of the game, essentially, is a transfer of information between individuals.
