Who Is Harry Wong?

There are many popular names in education. There are people who are known to be experts when it comes to classroom management and teaching children. However, very few of the names are as well known as that of Harry Wong. Harry Wong and his wife Rosemary are both teachers. Harry Wong has taught both middle school and high school science. He has received the Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award, the Science Teacher Achievement Recognition Award, the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award, and the Valley Forge Teacher’s Medal. Weekend Fun In Florida

The Green Bay Packers have a bye week this Sunday so my neighbors are going to Florida. (Nice, huh?) They are season ticket holders who don’t travel if it means missing a home game. So, they are off the hook for a couple of weeks. Classroom Rules

In Harry Wong’s book, The First Days of School, he introduces how effective teachers begin the school year. In his book, he discusses why and how teachers should introduce rules and procedures. Kindergarten is a very important year for teaching students how and when to carry out particular activities. I will devote the first few days of school to strictly teaching routines and procedures.
